EVENT DESCRIPTION
The VARSITY TRI is the perfect event beginners, families & athletes of all abilities! Athletes may participate individually or in a 2 or 3 person relay team.

The 2010 Jr. Varsity Tri will be held at the beauIful Granger Lake (.pdf) – conveniently located just 25 minutes outside of AusIn.

The 300 meter SWIM is held in shallow water, with plenty of open water certified lifeguards on-hand for oversight & safety.

The 11 mile BIKE is on paved roads – cycling through portions of Granger Lake’s Taylor Park, as well as crossing the Granger Dam. Dam will be fully closed to vehicle traffic throughout race.

The short 2 mile RUN is contained completely within the Park – on paved roads – finishing into the large, shaded venue area, where athletes will receive free massage from Advanced Rehab, soft serve ice cream from Kool Kones, adult beverages courtesy of Real Ale Brewery, sandwiches from Which Wich – along with ice cold finishers towels and water bottles from Pure Austin Fitness.

ALL participants will receive special finishers medals.
Awards for overall & age group winners.

USAT: Current USAT membership is required. Youth Annual memberships can be purchased for $5.

CANCELLATION POLICY
There are no refunds. Registered athletes unable to participate will be allowed to transfer their entry to another athlete and/or event distance up until 30 days prior to the event date. There is a $20 transfer fee. Athletes are required to notify the race director in writing or e-mail to request a transfer form. The race director reserves the right to decline a transfer request. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS

LOCATION
The Varsity Tri is located at the beautiful Granger Lake – conveniently located just 25 minutes outside of Austin, near Taylor, TX. Within Granger Lake, the tri will begin & end at Taylor Park, just off FM 1331. Google Map

Facility is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Carpooling is encouraged. Admission to the Park is $4 per car

WEATHER CONTINGENCY PLAN
In the event of foul weather, the start time of this event may be delayed by up to 1 hour. We reserve the right to cancel the race entirely if conditions are unsafe. No refunds for weather related cancellation of event.

USAT PACKET PICKUP REGULATIONS
All athletes MUST have photo ID and proof of USAT membership, or purchase one day USAT pass, in order to pick up packet. No exceptions. Annual USA Triathlon membership fee is $39 (12 month period) or $10 for one day pass.

All athletes must pickup their own packets. Per USAT rules, you may not pickup a packet for anyone other than yourself. All Relay team members must be present together in order to pickup packets.

• Please note: Jr. Varsity Tri is being held same day & begins at 7:30 a.m . Please plan your arrival at park no later than 7:00 a.m. – as roads within park will begin closures in order to secure bike & run course for Jr. Varsity event.
• Per USAT rules - No bikes will be allowed to leave the Transition Area until ALL bikes are off the bike course. We take our athletes safety as our highest priority & appreciate your understanding & patience
