Though my finish was sub-par, the city really rallies around this race. The support is incredible, it is family friendly, reasonably close, beautiful scenery, and perfect conditions for those training in Austin all summer.

Athlete Bio
I remember standing in line at my first triathlon thinking, “what am I doing?” I swam my first lap only a few months previous, and though I knew I could ride and run reasonably well, I was not sure how they would all fit together. Luckily, it was a small race and I finished second in my age group. I think I got a little medal but you would have thought I won the Tour de France. I was hooked and have not looked back.
At the time, I was working as a software consultant, but knew my future was elsewhere, so I returned to U.T. for a master’s in exercise physiology which I finished in 2007. I now work at Round Rock medical center and live in Cedar Park with my amazing wife, Mandy, and our three year-old daughter, Ashlyn.
