Athlete Bio
My athletic career began in middle school with running sprint distances on the track team. My running ability was later transferred to soccer while at Bellaire High School in the Houston area. I went on to play women’s club soccer at Texas State University from 1992 to 1996. I started doing sprint triathlons in 2001 and also began entering mountain bike and off-road duathlon races. In 2003 I left Austin to join the Peace Corps in Guatemala where I was an Agroforestry volunteer. I continued to run and did my first half marathon there in 2005. I returned to Austin in August 2006 and started to enter sprint triathlons and mountain bike races again and then set my goals on the Olympic triathlon distance this past fall. In my professional life I work in natural resources conservation for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation as a program coordinator. I love the outdoors and being active in the outdoors and this is reflected in my life path both personally and professionally.
